Unaffordable housing.jpg

THE IMPACT OF UNAFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS - dISAPPEARING MUSIC/ARTS VENUES & YOUTH/COMMUNITY CENTRES - the non-use of section 106 orders BY councils across london AND POOR QUALITY HOUSING AND IT’S IMPACT ON HEALTH& the environment through non sustainable construction

There are many housing developments propping up all over our towns and cities. However, similar to the many isolation-based issues that came with high-rise tower blocks, often these new developments do not integrate into their designs, any plans to ensure there will be the essential community hubs/centres or youth centres. We need to build stronger local communities and spaces for local people to come together, to take part in beneficial community music and arts programmes.

Developments can also often to be at the expense of so much, but can often offer little benefits to local communities, such as affordable music and arts venues and an offer that has a good balance & mix.

Section 106 Orders can only be issued by Councils to developers, to restrict the development or use of land in a specific way or require specified operations or activities to be carried out on the land. For instance, they can specify that the developer needs to build a community hub on the development, however these orders are not always instructed by Councils. We take part in Public Consultations to highlight local concerns but a more co-ordinated campaigns are needed. If you want to get involved and put your voice forward, please get in touch.

Domestic abuse.jpg

domestic abuse - the impact on people of all genders and the children of homes of domestic abuse

Anyone can be a domestic abuse victim - women, men, individuals of all genders and relationship types. It also includes the children of victims who have grown up in households with domestic abuse and violence, who are often forgotten. We are developing initiatives to address and explore these issues in our own way. If this area is of interest to you please sign up for future updates.

WEALTH INEQUALITY - REDUCING INEQUALITY

Wealth inequality.jpg

There is an immense, unimaginable amount of wealth in the world circulating through economies but clustered among the very few. Even during Covid-19, there are those who have amassed even more during these challenging times. We believe even a small fraction could help fund many essential community programmes for the benefit of society as a whole, and that those with the deepest pockets have a moral obligation to help those less fortunate. If you wish to add your voice to this campaign, or are a researcher or fundraiser with an interest in this area, please get in touch.

Historical contributions.jpg

ESSENTIAL HISTORY - COMING TO TERMS WITH OUR HISTORICAL PAST AND RAISING AWARENESS OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES

A damaging effect to society is being made by not having a balanced curriculum. There is a real gap in educating people, to help them understand and better acknowledge the past and the contributions of those that have made our society what it is today. If you can help us to share these stories, please get in touch.
